We Don't Back Down

1812 Strong and Free isn’t just a slogan—it’s a statement of defiance. Inspired by the War of 1812, when we stood our ground, repelled a U.S. invasion, and for good measure... burned their capital building to the ground.

Two centuries later, they’re at it again—tariffs and economic warfare replacing muskets. Same arrogance, new tactics. Their goal may be the same, but so is our resolve.

Canada Strong and Free

In 1812, the United States, certain of its own power, marched north expecting an easy conquest. They saw us as weak, unprepared, and ripe for the taking. They were wrong.

United in defiance, the diverse forces that would later shape the world’s first multicultural nation stood together. British troops, Indigenous warriors, Black soldiers (including freed slaves), French-Canadian Voltigeurs, Métis fighters, and even some American refugees, mounted fierce resistance—proving that strength lies in unity, and that the fight to remain strong and free was a shared one.

Canada was not just defended—it was defined.

This isn’t just about history—it’s about what it means to be Canadian today. Strength, resilience, and an unshakable will define who we are, whether on the battlefield, in the marketplace, or on the world stage. We don’t break and we don’t back down. They underestimated us before... We’re still here.
